Regular Meetings at Oakley Methodist Church
The Methodist membership ticket lists commitments that members of the Methodist Church undertake: the obligations of membership.
One of the commitments is that we are called to:
"learning and caring, through Bible study and meeting for fellowship, so that I may grow in faith and support others in their discipleship"
The “learning and caring” is fulfilled largely by Wednesday Worship. If you have not yet come to a Wednesday Worship evening come along and be part of the “learning and caring” that happens there.
We meet from 7.30-9pm at the Chapel. These evenings are open to anyone and include light refreshments (tea/coffee and cake/biscuits).
The pattern is on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays there will be an emphasis on “Praise and Prayer”. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays the worship will be more focussed on studying the Bible together.. For more information please contact Brian or Thelma.
The current schedule for Wednesday Worship is available Here
Our focus for the Winter Programme 2017 (available here) will be “What does it mean to be an inclusive Church?”
To help us answer this question we will look at various events in Jesus’ life and relate these to our situation today.
This will be done in the context of worship.
The Monday Club
"Monday Night at 8" have decided to meet every other week from September 2016. The name has been changed to "The Monday Club" and meetings will be from 7pm to 9pm.
All of this will be reviewed during December. The current programme is available here.
This is mainly a fellowship and social group; we have three programmes a year - Winter/Spring, Summer and Autumn with breaks for Christmas, Easter and August. In the Winter/Spring and Autumn sessions we have quite a wide variety of items in our programme - e.g. Holiday etc slides, "Give Us a Clue", Talks, Music Evenings, "Something Old, Something New", Games, Quizzes, Tapes and CDs, Carols etc, including Pot Luck Suppers!
This operates from 10am to 12 noon and is essentially a "pop in and chat" morning; proceeds go towards the church's chosen charity for the year. At the moment the charge is 50p for a "bottomless" cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.
These are usually held on the first Saturday of the months between October and March from 12 noon until 2pm.
Homemade soup and delicious desserts are available and donations are invited to cover the costs.
The Soup Saturdays of the new season will be on:
1st October 2016;
5th November 2016;
3rd December 2016:
7th January 2017:
4th February 2017 and
